Grand Designs Awards

I’m very happy to announce that Touchtile’s Evolution Shower was shortlisted to the last 6 in the Grand Designs Awards Best Bathroom Product category 2009. We’re very proud to have been a finalist in this category amongst some of the biggest names in the sanitaryware industry with our first product.

Commissioning of Custom Audio Sounds

Due to feedback from our retailers London it was decided that the Evolution Shower must have its audio feedback circuitry updated to CD quality, made louder, and introduce high quality custom designed tones for each of the functions of the Touchtile. This has now been completed and wound into production.

Water Control Unit Hardware Updates

Work has been completed on the improvement of our water control unit. The temperature measurement circuitry has been upgraded to allow us to calibrate the unit to within +/- 0.1 degrees of our calibrated production equipment. The improved circuitry gives an incredibly stable measurement allowing us to control the temperature of the water to a very high degree.

New Added Feature

Due to customer feedback, a new feature has been added to the Evolution Shower. Once the selected temperature has been reached, a tone is output four times to indicate that the shower is ready to use.  The new tone is one of the eight custom tones that have been designed for the Evolution Shower.

Documentation Update

The Evolution Shower brochure has recently been completed and is available to be downloaded from our website. It’s going to print now and will be available from the 2^nd week in July.

Hole drilling templates have been completed for mounting the Touchtile sensor bracket and the water control unit. These are designed to allow fast and simple installation of the two wall mounted items of the Evolution Shower. They also include the dimensions and position of the holes and external dimensions of the Touchtile sensor tile and water control unit.

Conclusion

The past 9 months have been a time of large changes in the Evolution Shower product. Since the launch at 100% Design last year in September, it has changed from having 8 fixed temperature settings to 15 reprogrammable ones, added capability to turn the voice off, custom tones designed for all functions, high quality audio introduced and great improvements in the quality of the water control unit have been made. Even though we are in a recession I’m confident that Touchtile will perform well in the second half of 2009 with more bathroom retailers promoting the Evolution Shower.
